Optimus Venatus literally means “best game” in Latin. Which is the whole point of OV: to find the best game. The best game can simply be a sim game or even an RPG. Don’t know what those are? Don’t worry, I’ll put a glossary on here.
I run OV on my own. Who am I? I’m simply a fifteen year-old girl with a love of the internet and personal opinions – mainly my own. I want to manage a sim of my own and plan to take some online coding classes in JavaScript and PHP this summer. It’s yet another reason why I play a lot of sims: to get ideas on what people want and what I, myself, want.
RANKINGS
0 to 10 pts: Bad Game
11 to 20 pts: Poor Game
21 to 30 pts: Fair Game
31 to 40 pts: Good Game
41 to 50 pts: Great Game
51+ pts: Wonderful Game*
*This can only be obtained by bonus points.
Through each review, the game receives points according to five categories: community, gameplay, layout, artwork, and staff. For each category, a maximum of ten points can be earned. So how can someone get more than that? Bonus points.
Bonus points are simply extra points a game can earn through some extreme measure. They could earn extra points for an extremely impressive layout or earn bonus points for an amazing idea that is originally executed. I can also give a game bonus points just for being an experience I enjoyed.
The rankings should be self-explanatory. The more points it earns, the better a game it is. If a game is ranked as a Great Game, I would recommend playing it for at least a week before deciding to quit. I wouldn’t really bother with bad games. However, a rank is never set in stone. If a game goes through a major revamp, I will write a new review and perhaps even reward it with a renewed rank.

I’m always looking for something new to play or look at. I don’t know everything and I don’t always feel like digging through pages of Google to find something. I have a whole two months to waste, so I am welcoming recommendations of any kind of sim or RPG. Just email me. I will play the game for at least a week before I write a review. If I join the site, I will post on the “Games” page when I plan to review it.
I don’t have alpha accounts on every single game, please keep that in mind. I can’t go through and review a sim that hasn’t been released yet. If I do, it would be brief and not an in depth review – I don’t want to give bad publicity to a sim that isn’t even out yet and I wouldn’t want to ruin anything for anyone.
With that stated, if you have a way for me to get an alpha account for free (even if only temporarily) I’d love to review that site for you. ;D
GLOSSARY
Sim – Short for simulation game. An online, browser-based game usually focusing on animals or people. Often involves a sort of strategy in order to be successful financially or another in-game way.
RPG – Abbreviation for roleplay game. A forum-based, post-by-post story that uses two or more users and their characters reacting to each other and their setting.
PvP – Player versus Player. In sims and some RPGs, a battle against two players. Money or experience is usual gain and/or lost depending on the individual’s success.
